Blog ID #1668: A Joyful Noise

I had a very fun and interesting morning today. As Ive been marketing Lost and Found, and One United Generation, Ive been getting the bug to do something with that first cassette I did many years ago (back in 1993, in fact). It was called A Joyful Noise. It was the first thing Id ever released.I think it was John Newman that planted that bug a few weeks ago, and its been eating at me ever since. So, I finally dragged out the old masters that Id had burned to CD back in the day. To give you an idea of what Back in the Day meant, the original masters in 93 were done on 8 track analog tape, mixed to DAT, and it was the DAT master that they made all the cassette copies from. There were no home or computer CD burners back then. Years later, I took all the masters I had to a studio and they cut some CDs from it. It was those that I dug up and found. So, I burned another copy of it (cause I didnt want that copy bouncing around in my car getting all scratched up), and I listened to it all the way in to work. What a blast from the past! Id forgotten just how much fun those songs were! That was a time in my life when I was much more passionate, much more angry, and I still believed I could change the world. That was long before the world beat all that out of me. But listening to those tunes, especially Long Haired Weirdo, Bubblegum Heroes, and Blues For a Nation brought all that back to me.Ive been in quite a funk here at work for a long time. But today, I can face it. Maybe I should listen to this stuff every day!

It's been exciting to see a few orders start to come in for the new CD! I've got some good promotions gearing up, some interviews and blog reviews. Just yesterday, I got started thinking about the next songs to come out, too. I went back and listened to some of the tracks I'd laid for some of these other songs, like Wannabe, Third Time, etc... Pretty exciting stuff. Then, just yesterday, I got the first mixes of the rap verse for Shine the Light from Arhythmatik! I'm stoked for that. This is solid!

So, I spent some time tonight cutting some lead and harmony vocals for Wannabe I really love that tune. I guess someone could listen to it and call it cheesy, but it moves me!Also, I checked and saw that the CD with the song files on it arrived at CreateSpace.com, so they'll hopefully be ready to make copies soon!
